Monumentum Ancyranum: The Deeds of Augustus

by Augustus

The deeds of Augustus, written by the emperor himself and set up in bronze outside his tomb and in stone across the empire; the best copy survives on a temple wall in Ankara. In a few pages he lists his victories, his gifts to the people and the times the doors of Janus were closed. It is political advertising of the highest order.
