Drama

Pygmalion

by George Bernard Shaw

A professor of phonetics bets that he can pass off a Covent Garden flower seller as a duchess by teaching her to speak “properly”. Shaw’s comedy is far sharper about class than the musical it later became. Eliza, in the end, is the one who has learned something.
