Pollyanna

by Eleanor H. Porter

Orphaned Pollyanna goes to live with her strict aunt and plays “the glad game”: finding something to be glad about in everything. Slowly the whole town changes around her. It is warm and simple, and it gave English a word for a cheerful optimist.
