Robert Burns: A Play

by John Drinkwater

John Drinkwater made his name with a play about Abraham Lincoln in 1918, and went on to write others about Mary Stuart, Cromwell and Robert E. Lee. This one, of 1925, puts Burns himself on the stage. It is a reminder of how much of the twentieth century’s Burns was the man rather than the poems.
