The Lost Kingdoms

Swallow: A Tale of the Great Trek

by H. Rider Haggard

This work draws on southern African history as Haggard understood and reshaped it. Its narrative energy deserves attention, as do the colonial viewpoint and racial assumptions through which that history is presented.
