The Library After Dark

Extraordinary Voyages

Moon-Voyage

by Jules Verne

Verne sends three members of the Baltimore Gun Club to the Moon inside a shell fired from a giant cannon in Florida. The arithmetic is astonishingly careful, the humour broad; the sequel, Round the Moon, follows the capsule around the far side and back to the Pacific. This is another English translation; the library keeps each one, because translators disagree in interesting ways.
